Dimitris Pantazatos

AI & data solutions leader · applied AI and digital transformation

I design and ship production AI systems in enterprise environments — architecture, ML pipelines, cloud deployment and the unglamorous parts that decide whether any of it survives contact with real operations. Ten years across applied AI, data architecture and digital platforms, in Athens.

About

Dimitris Pantazatos

I work at the point where technology, operations and the business have to agree on something. That usually means owning a solution end to end: the architecture, the ML pipelines, the cloud integration, and the release readiness that turns a promising model into a system somebody depends on at 9am on a Monday.

I lead hands-on. I set the standards for quality, security and MLOps, review the code, and mentor engineers across software, data and DevOps — including people who do not report to me. I came to this from economics and informatics rather than from pure engineering, which is probably why I care as much about what a system costs and who has to use it as about how it is built.

Based in Athens. Greek native, English at C2.

Experience

AI & Data Solutions Manager

Hellenic Telecommunications Organization · Athens

March 2025 – present

  • Own the end-to-end technical design and delivery of scalable AI and data solutions, from architecture and ML pipelines through cloud integration to production readiness.
  • Take autonomous technical decisions on solution architecture, technology stack, ML approaches and Azure services.
  • Define and enforce standards for MLOps, monitoring, validation, security and release readiness.
  • Act as hands-on technical lead for software, data and DevOps engineers, influencing technical standards beyond direct reporting lines.

Selected work. Co-designed and productionised DoRe, an AI-driven document recognition and invoice processing system now supporting core procurement and finance operations. Designed and led the implementation of agentic AI solutions across business analysis, HR, procurement workflows and RFP management. Established the validation rules, error handling, alerting and human-in-the-loop controls that cut manual processing effort and error rates.

Interests

I spend as much time outdoors as the job allows — photography, dancing and sport take most of it. Forced indoors, I read, watch films and play video games, which is roughly how this page came about.

Game theory

My MSc thesis was an introduction to game theory and its applications in economics and negotiations. The prisoner's dilemma is the standard opening example: two players, one move each, and a payoff structure where the rational individual choice leaves both worse off than cooperation would.
